Happy New Year everybody! I can’t believe we’re starting a new decade already. The last one blew by so quickly for me. So much has happened to me during the last 10 years. I quit drinking and am 9 years sober. I divorced and remarried 2 years ago. Sold a townhome and bought a lovely 3 bedroom home out in the country on an acre of land. I lost weight, gained it back, and just recently lost it again….hopefully! I’m looking forward to 2020. It’s going to be an exciting year for all of us! A little about myself, I’m obviously new at blogging, but not at writing. I graduated from Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC in 1996 with a BA in Mass Communication/Journalism. After college, I spent a few years working locally on a few newspapers covering high school sports and writing feature articles, photography, and some hard news. I fell away from it and went into retail and restaurant managing for a few years. During this time, I never lost the itch to write. So, my wife, family and friends suggested I try blogging. Not a bad way to scratch that writing itch, eh? So, my goal this year is to write at least one blog a day….or two…..or 3. It’ll be on anything that’s, well…..on my mind. I don’t plan on writing about politics though. I think we have enough political discussions around already. However, I may chime in on a particular subject if I feel strongly about it. Otherwise, I’m sure I can find many other topics to write about besides whatever is going on in the ever shifting, ever polarizing political landscape. Until then, again, a Happy New Year to all. Make every day count towards helping one another out. Be blessed!
UPDATE: I just reread this post from January and got a big kick out of a statement I made that 2020 was going to be an exciting year. That was before the Covid-19 pandemic, etc. Yep, it’s been exciting alright! Just had no idea how exciting and crazy it was going to be. Looking forward to better times in 2021!
